Graduating from the University of Toronto in 2005 with an Honours Degree in Film & Literary Studies, Safia went on to receive her diploma in the Income Managers Program at University of Waterloo. Throughout her academic career her lifelong passion for dance led her to perform in many different dance forms including ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, and musical theatre. While she had practiced Pilates as a component of her dance training since 1998, it was during a dance performance in 2003 when she injured herself that she decided to focus on Pilates as an integral part of her rehabilitation program.
The successful recovery of her injury inspired Safia to shift her focus to integrate her love of teaching with her interest in accessing movement to help a greater population of individuals with different needs. And in 2009 she successfully graduated from the STOTT Pilates comprehensive training program at their head office in Toronto, Ontario.
Recognized as a committed and loyal instructor to a large clientele, Safia continuously participates in continuing education workshops and series to deepen her knowledge of diverse and quality based programming. Currently Safia has completed workshops in Scoliosis and Osteoporosis Management, Athletic Conditioning, Programming for Teens and is certified as a Total Barre, Zenga and CORE Instructor. She currently participates in a weekly biomechanics class held at the National Ballet School in Toronto.
Safia’s passion for teaching Pilates is rooted in her belief that movement and educating clients about their bodies can motivate, inspire and encourage positive outcomes both mentally and physically. Her enthusiastic approach to teaching and working with others draws clients to both her private and group classes and her fresh and innovative approach to Pilates makes her teaching style fun, focused and challenging! Safia is thrilled to be part of the Studio3 team!
