Denise is a graduate of the National Ballet School of Canada, and a former professional ballet dancer with the Dutch National Ballet in Amsterdam from 1987-2001.
When she returned to Canada in 2003, Denise completed and received her full STOTT Pilates certification at the head studio in Toronto. Since then, she has taught both private and group classes on both the mat and various equipment at several studios within Toronto including The Granite Club, Toronto Athletic Club and the STOTT Pilates studio. Currently, Denise works at several studios in the city and is thrilled to be joining the Studio3 team where she will be offering both private and group classes.
A lifelong student and teacher of movement education, Denise continues to further her teaching skills and knowledge through various continuing education programs. Currently, she is pursuing a certificate in the Franklin Method and studies with biomechanist/kinesiologist Katy Bowman. Both education programs provide a strong emphasis on posture, alignment and stretching, all of which Denise applies to her client programming development.
Denise is very passionate about helping others achieve a better mind body connection through building healthy movement patterns. Known for her light, fun and very effective teaching style, Denise believes that the strength and functionality of Pilates combined with the benefits of massage can provide the body with the tools to relax and destress while gaining strength and endurance. With over 15 years of experience, Denise is able to guide her clients through workouts that help improve posture, maintain better alignment and provide a safe, dynamic and challenging workout designed with their goals in mind.
